This is an introduction to the book of history, in which he talks about the virtues of the science of history, the realisation of its doctrines, and the fallacies of historians, and emphasises that the art of history is dear to the doctrine, full of benefits, and honourable in its purpose because it informs us of the conditions of the past nations in their morals, prophets in their biographies, and kings in their states and politics.  This introduction includes six chapters:
